I agree with what you say about "something being said for the classics"; it's always comforting to remember that things don't have to be fancy or impressive to be good. Maybe it also says something about the season; the strange transitional time between fall and winter invites simplicity, rather than invention.<br /><br />In any case, long live the simple, yet tasty thumbprint; I'm sure they made a nice vehicle for your delicious preserves! I have some Fireside Apple Jelly in the cupboard--the result of apple picking--and I think it would do well in a thumbprint setting.
