I think I actually stumbled on your blog because a comment of yours about Romanian food on another blog caught my eye, but my boyfriend's being Romanian just never came up. Good people, good food. I'm sure I'll be back there soon enough.Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02728857878966566813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2809435229390094618.post-38085327259983669932011-11-04T09:26:26.953-05:002011-11-04T09:26:26.953-05:00This totally reminded me of my childhood. There were some unexpected complications involving the gas line, but we hope to be up and running by tomorrow or Friday.

Romania is really great. I'm not sure that I could live in one of the smaller cities, but Bucharest definitely. Something about the scale and atmosphere of dense European cities makes them really appealing to me, and Bucharest is no exception. Great food, fascinating history, interesting architecture, lots of patios--what more could you want?

And the photo above my blurb about mici is of a mic. They are really good. If you're ever in Romania, you'll have to ask around to find the best. All mici, apparently, are not made equal. You have to get the blend of meats, fat, and seasoning right. Again, they're not really an at-home thing, or I'd be able to tell you more.Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02728857878966566813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2809435229390094618.post-73223788236259993502011-09-27T17:09:26.738-05:002011-09-27T17:09:26.738-05:00!! The place I want to go most right now is the Balkan region--the whole post-communist remnants and transformations and the feel of everything... sounds amazing.

And the food sounds fantastic! My boyfriend and I decided that we like to judge the food of the places we visit by "peasant food," or how the poor eat (probably because on our trips we never had a lot to spend ourselves, haha). This place looks awesome! Is the photo above the mici paragraph a picture of mici? That especially sounded so good.

Thanks for sharing, and welcome back! :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
